Carlos Rivera joined Safe Harbor Equity as CFO in 2017 and sits on the Investment Committee. He is responsible for all administrative matters, accounting, finance, treasury, taxes, audit, SEC compliance, and investor relations. Carlos has over 40 years of accounting, finance and operational experience in multiple industries such as public accounting, master land development, homebuilding, hospitality, manufacturing, real estate investment and distressed debt. His career began with Price Waterhouse (PW) in the audit department where he became one of the firm’s top managers. 

Carlos’ clients included large financial institutions, real estate owners and developers, manufacturers, and high net worth individuals.  After PW, Carlos spent over 10 years in real estate working for companies like WCI Communities in Naples and Pulte Homes holding several positions ranging from Director of Audit to Director of Finance. While at Pulte Homes, Carlos was an integral part of the management team in re-structuring the business model for Pulte’s International operations.

Carlos’ additional experience includes roles as a CFO for a manufacturing company in which Carlos spearheaded the complete re-engineering of the business including market re-positioning, product development, restructuring of the accounting, manufacturing and human resources functions.

For six years Carlos worked for Rialto Holdings as the Real Estate Owned Controller which comprised over 10,000 assets attained from foreclosures on Non-Performing Loans (NPLs), acquisitions, and joint ventures. During this period, his responsibilities included: administering monthly, quarterly, and annual SEC and Investor reports of the Real Estate Owned (REO) division, partnering with internal/external auditors to achieve auditing and Sox testing and directing the accounting staff of 13 onsite personnel and 4 staff in Spain. Carlos is an Alden Scholar from Allegheny College where he earned a BS in Economics.

He earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester, earned through the Consortium scholarship program for top minorities in the US and is a CPA.
